About Us
The Janaza Foundation, founded by Mr. M. R. M. Hussain, stands as a pillar of support and compassion for the underprivileged in Colombo, Sri Lanka. For over five decades, the foundation has operated with a singular focus: to provide essential services to those in need, free of charge. Our utmost commitment to serving the community extends beyond just a mission statement; it is reflected in our daily actions and the lives we touch.
At the heart of our foundation is the belief that everyone deserves dignity and respect, especially during their final moments. Our core service involves transporting unclaimed and unidentified bodies from hospitals to cemeteries, ensuring they receive proper final rites. This service is a testament to our unwavering dedication to humanity, irrespective of social or economic status.
In addition to our original mission, the Janaza Foundation has grown to encompass a range of charitable activities. We provide a 24/7 ambulance service, deliver school supplies to children, distribute clothing to people experiencing homelessness, and offer essential items to the less fortunate—our founder's vision of creating a community where no one is left behind drives these efforts.
Our team of dedicated directors works tirelessly to ensure our services reach those who most need them. We are supported by generous contributions from Mr. Hussain, his friends, and his family, allowing us to maintain our operations without external funding or advertisements. At Janaza Foundation, we believe in silent service and profound impact, striving every day to be a friend to people with low incomes and a beacon of hope for all.
